GTA4.
Well, it's only a couple of days away and I have a problem. I have built this game up so much that if it doesn't be awesome straight out of the box (or preferably even whilst inside the box) I will probably die of disappointment.

How can I temper my expectations?

well, you could realise that ultimately it's just a game? i'm sure it will be good and a lot of fun and you'll waste countless hours glued to the television playing it. but a year or two from now there will be another, better, more exciting game that's come out and you'll be obsessed with that.

You can't. Nothing will ever be better than Monkey Island, therefore GTA4 will only ever disappoint ;-)

...or you could make yourself forget about the game by squicking your mind with slashfic?

The early word is that it is pretty awesome, so don't worry too much. Be interested to hear what you make of it.
